A few things to know before using Prefs.

About Prefs

Prefs is an app from Poolsuite Company for keeping track of personal preferences and planning around the people you care about. These terms cover this website and the current early-access app. Questions? Email hey@prefs.club.

A memory aid, not medical advice

Prefs shows information entered by you or shared with you. It does not diagnose allergies, verify medical information, or guarantee that a meal, ingredient, restaurant or preparation method is safe.

Confirm important requirements directly with the person and the people preparing the food. Take professional medical advice where needed, and do not rely on Prefs in an emergency.

Your information, your choices

Only record and share information you have permission to use. Keep it accurate and up to date, and respect other people’s privacy—especially where children, health information or beliefs are involved. You remain responsible for choosing which details to share and with whom.

Your entries remain yours. You allow us and our service providers to process information in your account only as needed to provide, secure and support the service, as explained in our privacy notice. A shared image or text card is a snapshot, not a live record; copies already sent cannot be recalled.

Accounts and backup

Automatic backup is rolling out in the next app update. Older builds may still ask you to enable backup separately; check the backup status shown in your app.

You can use Prefs locally without an account. Accounts use Clerk for sign-in and Convex for cloud storage. Creating an account or signing in starts automatic backup of your existing cards, photos, notes and saved get-togethers, including future additions and changes. If this device and your account already have separate libraries, the app asks how to handle them first. Get the required explicit permission before adding anyone else’s sensitive information to an account; accepting these terms does not provide that permission.

Keep your sign-in method secure and use an account you’re authorised to access. Contact us if you suspect someone else has accessed it. Backup requires a working connection and a successful upload, including any photos. Changes saved only on your device may be lost if the device or app is lost before backup completes. Check the app’s backup status before relying on recovery.

You can stop using Prefs at any time. Signing out does not delete your cloud library. Use Delete account in Account & backup to request removal of your cloud library and sign-in account, or contact us for help. Deletion cannot remove copies you or others saved outside the service.

Early access

Prefs is still being developed. Features may change and errors or interruptions may occur. Accounts and backup are available in supported early-access builds; availability may differ between builds. Paid memberships are not currently offered. Any future paid service will show its price and terms before you choose to buy it.

Using the service fairly

Don’t use Prefs to harass people, collect information unlawfully, infringe others’ rights or interfere with the service’s security. The Prefs name, artwork and app design belong to their respective rights holders; using the app does not transfer those rights to you.

Privacy

Our privacy notice explains local storage, optional accounts and backup, providers, retention and your choices. These terms are not consent to process sensitive information.

Your legal rights

Nothing here removes consumer rights you have under applicable law or excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded. Prefs should be used with appropriate care, alongside direct confirmation of important food requirements.
